Course Descriptions
All courses start at 8:00 AM.
Asbestos Supervisor
A 40-hour course for those who supervise abatement workers. This course discusses supervision and management, administrative programs, medical monitoring, including air monitoring, Type C systems, respiratory protection, and includes 14 hours of hands-on exercise.
Asbestos Worker (32 Hour)
This course is designed to satisfy the State of Washington and EPA training requirements for workers involved with asbestos abatement. This course focuses on all aspects including health protection issues, site safety, and state-of-the-art work practices. Hands-on exercises including repair of sprayed-on asbestos, glove-bag removal, construction of containment units and decontamination procedures.
Lead-Based Paint Worker (16 Hour)
This course is designed to teach workers how to perform safe lead-based paint abatement activities in residences (per HUD compliance) without polluting the environment or exposing themselves and the community to lead hazards. In fact, every building contractor working on buildings erected before 1978 is required to be Lead Worker certified.
EPA Certified Lead Renovator Initial (8 Hour)
This 8 hour course trains renovation, repair and painting contractors how to work safely in housing with lead-based paint and comply with EPA’s Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule and HUD’s Lead Safe Housing Rule. This training is required for any contractor who is involved in any construction activity that will or has the potential to contact lead based paint. Certification is obtained through an initial 8 hour training course and subsequent renewal classes.
Confined Space Entry (4-8 Hour)
The confined space course is designed to comply with the training requirements mandated by the new Space Requirements (CFR 1910.146). This training covers procedures to reduce risk of injury to workers, which includes establishing written operating procedures, hazard identification, controls, testing, lock-out/tag-out safeguards, emergency response plan, ventilation requirements and rescue considerations.
Hazardous Waste Operation and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) (40 Hour)
This course satisfies the health and safety training requirements of the OSHA Hazardous Waste, 29CFR 1910.120(Q) and the WISHA Standard WAC 296-62 Part P. This course is designed for those individuals who respond to releases or potential releases for the purpose of stopping the release. This course consist lectures, classroom exercises and substantial hands-on situations.
